Knowing yourself, your triggers and how to stay calm is key to working and collaborating effectively & compassionately. Our training helps you do just that.
Are your staff aware of what’s heating up the tension?
Workplace relationships can be tricky. Unfortunately, many of the practical, logical solutions we intend for addressing organisational issues fail at implementation – often because we don’t take into account what’s going on at a deeper or unconscious emotional level.
Processes for understanding the unconscious at work (ours and others!) create deeper insights. These really help staff understand why things can be so challenging working with other people.
Why our training for your staff?
There are many models that look at personality types in the workplace. It’s a pity that some are too rigid and don’t address the unconscious interplay of ‘selves’ we all actually do bring to every situation.
We introduce participants to the Groupwork Centre’s model for understanding the unconscious at work – The Community of Selves™. We then offer a range of practical tools for incorporating these understandings into the life of your team and organisation, with time for practice, reflection and sharing insights.
This training is very popular with work teams or groups of managers.
What will participants learn?
- Understanding the ‘selves’ we bring to work
- The unconscious ‘dance’ that happens between people and teams
- Identifying our role in this ‘dance’ and how we might change the ‘steps’
- How to maintain self-awareness and stay more grounded in the midst of challenging interactions
- Team dynamics, recognising old patterns of behaviour and responses to one another
- Groupwork Centre’s Unconscious at Work model: Crafted over decades, it provides a delightful way of looking at this somewhat ‘deep’ topic with some lightness and fun.
Duration: One to two days 9.30am – 5.00pm, depending on your staff’s needs

Venue: Groupwork Centre Training rooms, location to be advised or other suitable workshop space of your choice
Our approach to training
We create an environment where you can look at your work practices with safety and lightness. Our work is lively, experiential and practical – and fosters emotional resilience throughout. And we have a bit of fun along the way!
A large part of the program is devoted to practising skills using situations your staff members want to work on. We encourage them to bring real-life examples, and allow time to address individual needs and issues faced in the workplace.
